Cameroon Concord News Group has demonstrated throughout 2017 its commitment to the dispassionate publication of news relating to the ongoing revolution in Ambazonia with admirable success.  We are grateful to our network of reporters and information channels in the battle fields of our territory under siege by the genocidal government of French Cameroun.  We are also grateful to our informal channels with the administrative and military structures of French Cameroun, many of them who are opposed to the genocide in the territory of Ambazonia.

Our commitment to bring critical analysis of the events at the national and international levels has earned us the enviable and commendable possible of the news organization of choice by key international actors with a mandate to critically evaluate the situation on the ground and develop appropriate solutions to the human calamity unfolding in the Gulf of Guinea due to the criminal activities of French Cameroun.

In the discharge of our professional obligations we have declined any invitation by detractors to change our focus on the people’s revolution and their just resistance against crimes against humanity and genocide.  We will stay the course in the New Year 2018 in the firm belief that bringing the spotlight on the crimes that shock the conscience of humanity against our people is more valuable than attempting to pull down the edifice and structures put in place to garner diplomatic, defense and protection measures support for our cause.

We had in the past stated that our presence in the territory of Nigeria was preordained by God. In pressing for certain actions, we must endeavour to be sensitive to the certain realities, which include diplomatic norms.  Diplomatic practice as far as our case is concerned may not necessarily accord with the realities on the ground which militates in our favour.  But we must not take this strategic advantage for granted.  Our news organisation is aware of this.  Indeed we have led by example by eschewing reckless publication of information aimed at compromising our revolution and the structures put in place to move us towards victory.  These structures require more efforts and support to enable them effectively and efficiently lead us to victory.  This requires the support of a variety of national and international actors, our nationals and foreigners of good will.

La Republique itself relies on France why must Ambazonia not seek support beyond its frontiers? For this reason we support the interim government of the Federal Republic of Ambazonia and call on other professionals to exercise responsible restraint in publishing information aimed at diverting attention from the main objectives of our struggle.  They can in exercise of their rights to opinion write and publish what they think. But there is something wrong when in doing so; they turn themselves into the object of the news under the guise of exercising a fundamental right.  When that occurs, the temptation to be swept away by the strong tides of the revolution is great.  If you doubt this, ask Agbor Balla and many others.  Not to say they may necessarily be wrong or right in what they write.  Just that their intended audience expect mistakes to be raised where they can be righted without compromising the focus on the revolution and the precious sacrifices of our people within and without our homeland.

The Vietnamese Government chief made the point on December 27 in Ha Noi while receiving Cameroon Foreign Minister Lejeune Mbella Mbella.

The host leader said he was convinced that the visit would contribute to accelerating the bilateral ties and opening up a new chapter in the bilateral relationship, especially when the two sides signed important agreements.

PM Phuc hailed the socio-economic achievements which Cameroon has attained, affirming that Viet Nam always treasures  the traditional ties and hopes to broaden economic ties with Cameroon in accordance with the fine political relations.

The PM praised the close coordination of the two countries at international forums and thanked the Cameroon Government for supporting Vietnam-  invested projects there.

Viet Nam always creates favorable ways for foreign investors to do business, he said.

In reply, FM Lejeune Mbella Mbella said that Cameroon’s Government pays special attention to expanding ties with Viet Nam, which is the reason of his visit.

He said that along with agricultural development, Cameroon is focusing on upgrading infrastructure systems such as roads, ports and airports. The country is also keen on developing energy, information technology and digital economy, he said, expressing his hope to promote partnership with Viet Nam in these fields.

A former mayor in Cameroon arrested in September 2014 for alleged complicity with Boko Haram was acquitted Thursday, a week after a Radio France International correspondent was released on terrorism charges. Moussa Ramat, the ex-mayor of Fotokol in Cameroon’s far north, was accused of supplying weapons to the jihadist group and assisting in the sale of looted goods from Boko Haram fighters.

His lawyer Eugene Balemaken told AFP the accusations “did not correspond to reality”. “He was therefore properly acquitted following the debates.” Sources said the former mayor regularly intervened before his arrest in several negotiations that resulted in the release of Boko Haram hostages.

Ramat could be released very soon, said Balemaken, who called the trial of his client as “unfair” because of his help with negotiations.

After serving 29 months in jail, RFI correspondent Ahmed Abba was acquitted on December 22 after being suspected of collaborating with Boko Haram and not passing on information to the authorities. He was released the following day.

Since 2014, when Cameroon began its fight against Boko Haram, the group has killed at least 2,000 soldiers and civilians and kidnapped 1,000 people in the country’s far north region, according to the International Crisis Group.

At least 20,000 people have been killed and more than 2.6 million displaced in the eight-year conflict, which has destroyed livelihoods and triggered a humanitarian crisis. About 1.8 million people live in camps or with relatives in Nigeria’s worst-affected states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa. Others have fled to Niger, Chad and Cameroon.

The commander of the 21st Mechanized Infantry Division (21st BRIM) has revealed that several Cameroonian soldiers have deserted the army to join the Southern Cameroons Defense Force.

In an documentary aired by TV5 Monde on the Anglophone crisis, Brigadier General Donatien Melingui Nouma, who is also the  commander of  war operations in the war against the people of Southern Cameroons declared that Ambazonian militia are receiving training from European mercenaries and some deserters of the Cameroonian army.

“We know that they are trained by foreigners including some mercenaries and there are also some Cameroonians, some deserters from our army who joined them and who train these people” said General Melingui.

The Francophone Brigadier General Melingui Nouma also noted that this war against Southern Cameroonians “is likely to turn into a completely asymmetrical conflict, that is to say that we face, not a regular army, but hordes Who appear and disappear, a bit like the Boko Haram terrorists that this army has been unable to defeat in the far north since May 2014.”

The TV5 report produced in the South-West region showed deserted villages and supposed Ambazonian troops filmed by drones, practice session.

Ex-football superstar George Weah has been announced as  the winner of Liberia’s presidential run-off, beating Vice President Joseph Boakai in the first democratic transfer of power in decades following two devastating civil wars.

Weah is set to replace incumbent Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, who took over at the helm of Africa’s oldest republic in 2006.

The National Election Commission (NEC) said Weah had won an insurmountable 61.5 percent of Tuesday’s vote, which was delayed several weeks after a legal challenge from Boakai.

The NEC said that with 98.1 percent of all votes counted, Boakai had only secured 38.5 percent support.

NEC President Jerome Korkoya told reporters that definitive results would be released Friday.

But Weah wasted no time in acknowledging the win, posting on Twitter: “My fellow Liberians, I deeply feel the emotion of all the nation. I measure the importance and the responsibility of the immense task which I embrace today. Change is on.”

Ahead of Thursday’s results, armed and helmeted police deployed outside the poll body’s headquarters and some of Weah’s supporters were already rejoicing.

“The Liberian people clearly made their choice… and all together we are very confident in the result of the electoral process,” tweeted Weah before the official results were announced.

Weah topped the first round of voting in October with 38.4 percent of ballots but failed to win the 50 percent necessary to avoid a run-off. Boakai came second with 28.8 percent.

The election passed without a single major incident of violence despite weeks of delays caused by legal challenges and Liberians said they were looking forward to a peaceful handover after 12 years under Sirleaf.

“Since years of civil war this is the first time we see the transition of power from one person to another,” voter Oscar Sorbah told AFP.

The Sirleaf administration, elected in 2005, guided the nation out of the ruins of war and through the horrors of the 2014-16 Ebola crisis, but is accused of failing to combat poverty and corruption.

“We’ve waited 12 years, now power is going to the people,” CDC vice president of the CDC’s youth wing Josephine Davies said after Weah’s win.

The Southern Cameroons Defense Force has said that it will stage attacks during the African Cup of Nations in 2019. Tens of thousands of football fans are expected to attend the AFCON 2019 in Cameroon over the month-long games.

Cameroon government troops will tighten security in the wake of the warning of terror threats. Southern Cameroons largest constituency, the Manyu has been subjected to deadly military operations by the Francophone dominated army.

The Southern Cameroons militants have reportedly killed more than a hundred Cameroon government forces in retaliation for Biya regime’s helicopter strikes in what is now known as the Federal Republic of Ambazonia.

Last week the Southern Cameroons militants released a statement saying the security of the 84 year old Cameroonian dictator cannot be guaranteed “if he visits the Bamenda State in Southern Cameroons.” We understand the visit was cancelled. The Southern Cameroons Defense Force has called on its loyalists to attack every French Cameroun government security apparatus in the country.

Mean while, the African Football Confederation, CAF has announced its first inspection mission of Cameroon’s infrastructures for the 2019 AFCON from the 11th to 23rd of January 2018. Cameroon Intelligence Report has been reliably informed that the inspection will now be conducted by a German firm Roland Berger. Roland Berger was assigned the task in November 2017, by the CAF after a call for tenders. The competition will be held from June 7th to July 7th.

5 cities have been designated to host the competition. Group A & C, Yaoundé (Center region), Group B Douala (Littoral), Group D in Bafoussam (West region), Group E Limbé (South West) and Group F Garoua (North).

Six stadiums will accommodate the games which for the first time will bring together 24 African National teams namely Limbé stadium (20,000 capacity), completed in 2014, Bafoussam 20,000 delivered in 2016, the Yaoundé Ahmadou Ahidjo 40 000 seats) renovated, Roumdé Adjia Garoua (25 000 seats) still under renovation, Olembé sports complex – or so-called Paul Biya Stadium – in Yaoundé (60 000) is also still under construction just like that of Japoma in Douala, with seating capacity of 50 000. The Francophone dominated Cameroon government says both stadiums will be delivered by the end of 2018.

In a related development, the Interim Government of the Federal Republic of Ambazonia has also warned the African football governing body not to stage the tournament in Cameroon particularly in Southern Cameroons territory. In a document addressed to CAF and FIFA, the Ambazonian leader, Sisiku Ayuk Tabe noted that the Interim Government cannot guarantee the security of the players and various delegations.

The pro ruling CPDM party’s so-called National Anti-Corruption Commission (CONAC), – the body in charge of the fight against corruption in Cameroon has revealed that the nation suffered an estimated loss of 1246 billion FCFA in the last five years.

The CONAC report stated that a survey carried out at the general treasury in Buea, Southern Cameroons found fictitious payments of court fees amounting to 7,956 billion FCFA from January 2011 to June 2016.

In Bertoua, the chief city in the East region fraudulent payments were valued at CFAF 1.699 billion in the general treasury from January 2014 to July 2016.

Last year, CONAC said it registered 2,402 reports of corruption as against 3,268 in 2015 from all the 10 regions.  The fake anti corruption body stated that areas were corruption is rife includes land disputes, public procurement and management of resources allocated to organizations.

CONAC also pointed out that Cameroonian custom officers are among the most corrupt civil servants in Cameroon. It cited in its findings the case of the customs official who owns 13 villas, a five-storey building, 10 registered land, five 30-ton trucks, and five Toyota cars, 28-seat coaster, two 18-seater coaches, a fleet of high-end personal vehicles …

EX-CELTIC star Landry N’Guemo has walked out on Turkish club Kayserispor – despite having 18 months left on his contract.

The Cameroon midfielder made 35 Hoops appearances on loan from French club Nancy in the 2009-10 season.

N’Guemo joined the Super Lig club in January from rivals Akhisar Belediyespor, signing a deal until 2019.

However the 32-year-old lost patience after making just three appearances, and persuaded club chiefs to release him.

He could yet return to Scotland, or find another club in France – where he has also played for Bordeaux and Saint Etienne.

N’Guemo posted a Christmas picture of himself, his wife and three children on social media.

Cameroon Foreign Minister Lejeune Mbella Mbella has affirmed that Cameroon hopes to bolster co-operation with Việt Nam in trade, investment, agriculture, education, green energy and telecommunications.

During talks on Wednesday with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Phạm Bình Minh as part of his on-going visit to Việt Nam from December 27-30, Mbella Mbella said that his country is willing to help bridge collaboration between Việt Nam and members of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC).

He lauded the effectiveness of Vietnamese-invested projects in Cameroon, including a joint venture between the military telecommunications group Viettel and a local firm, which he described as a symbol of successful co-operation between the two countries.

He proposed greater coordination among localities of the two countries, as well as the organisation of trade promotion programmes and the exchange of training courses and scholarships.

The Cameroon Ministry of External Affairs will ask the President to approve the country’s Ambassador to China to also cover relations with Việt Nam. The ministry will also seek the appointment of a honourary ambassador of Việt Nam in Cameroon, and create favourable conditions for the implementation of joint rice development projects in the form of public-private partnerships.

Minh suggested the two foreign ministries work closely together to accelerate a Việt Nam visit by the Cameroon President in 2018 and conclude negotiations for agreements on investment encouragement and protection and double-tax avoidance, and another deal on co-operation in industry and promoting Việt Nam’s exports to Cameroon.

Minh asked Cameroon to back Vietnamese investors in the country.

Mbella Mbella also met with Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc, who affirmed that Việt Nam is willing to share experience in wet rice cultivation and other fields with Cameroon.

Phúc said that Cameroon’s offering of optimal conditions for Vietnamese firms has helped facilitate Vietnamese investment in the country.

Expressing delight at the growing ties between Việt Nam and Cameroon, he declared that Việt Nam always treasures the traditional friendship with the African country and hopes to broaden economic collaboration to match their sound political relations.

For his part, Mbella Mbella said that his country pays special attention to expanding ties with Việt Nam, which is why he visited.

He said that along with agricultural development, Cameroon is focusing on upgrading infrastructure such as roads, ports and airports. The country is also keen on developing energy, information technology and the digital economy, he said, expressing hope that it can partner with Việt Nam in these fields.

Cameroon currently ranks 12th out of 72 destinations for Vietnamese investors, with four projects totalling US$270 million. Two-way trade between the two sides has reached about $200 million, mostly from Việt Nam’s imports.

During Mbella Mbella’s stay, the two countries signed a framework agreement in bilateral co-operation, another on a visa exemption for those holding diplomatic and official passports and a memorandum of understanding on co-operation between the two foreign ministries. — VNS

Zimbabwe’s former commander of the army, General Constantino Chiwenga, has been chosen as a vice president of the country.

Chiwenga, 61, played a pivotal role in recent developments that ended President Robert Mugabe’s longtime rule.

His appointment is seen as a reward for the army’s instrumental role in ending Mugabe’s rule.

General Chiwenga took the oath of office in Harare on Thursday, pledging to be “faithful” to Zimbabwe, and to “obey, uphold and defend the constitution”.

At the event held on the lawns of the president’s official residence, Chiwenga, who is now one of the two country’s vice presidents, vowed to “work as a team”, and “deliver” whatever task given to him.

Chiwenga retired from the military last week, slightly over a month after the army temporarily took control of the country on November 15, culminating in Mugabe’s resignation six days later and a takeover by his deputy.

The new president Emmerson Mnangagwa, dozens of government officials, military and police chiefs as well as traditional leaders, attended the event.

Chiwenga’s rise to the country’s second most powerful job has further consolidated the military’s power in the politics of the southern African country.

Other top military officials were awarded ministerial posts earlier this month include ex-air force chief Marshal Perrance Shiri, who became the new agriculture minister, and a spokesman for the military, General Sibusiso Moyo, who was appointed as the new foreign minister.
