Chantal Biya says she will return to Cameroon if General Ivo Yenwo, Martin Belinga Eboutou and Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh are sacked ¹³

First Lady, Chantal Biya has reportedly set certain conditions for her return to Cameroon. She has been absent from the country for three months now and all attempts by her husband, President Biya who has been incessantly flashing out signals for her to come to him, Cameroon Concord News has now gathered that the youthful first lady has tabled a number of requirements to her illustrious husband so she can return to Cameroon.

A source at the presidency of the republic hinted that Chantal Biya fervently believes it is urgent and beneficial to infuse new energy around the elderly statesman. We learnt she has even gone further by suggesting a list of those who have to be giving matching orders among them Martin Belinga Eboutou, Minister Director of the Civil Cabinet of the President of the Republic. The first lady also asked her husband to sack General Ivo Desancio, Director of presidential security and the current Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh.

Did President Museveni stop his motorcade to chat with a mistress? ⁰

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni voluntarily stopped his convoy for a phone call while returning from a trip to a remote village in western Uganda. His press secretary Don Wanyama, who published the photo on Facebook explained that his boss had stopped the procession to hold a 30 minutes conversation.

Many around the world are still wondering with whom the president had that conversation. Ugandan media suggested that the dictator spoke to the opposition leader Kizza Besigye, who has been charged for treason after criticizing Museveni’s re-election in February. However, Cameroon Concord News entertainment editor hinted Museveni was receiving a call from one of his many mistresses in Kampala.

CRTV: Charles Ndongo takes command ⁴

The newly appointed General Manager of the Cameroon Radio and Television Cooperation, Charles Pythagoras Ndongo and his deputy, Emmanuel Wongibe, have been installed into their functions.

The scantily attended ceremony took on Friday the 1^st of July 2016 at Studio 1 at Mballa II. The ceremony was chaired by the chairman of the CRTV board and Minister of Communication, Issa Bakary Tchiroma.

Disgraced Makossa star to be heard by the Douala appeal court ⁰

There will be another hearing of the case Zakaria Abakar Terio, a Chadian businessman living in Cameroon against Ferdinand Din Din, alias Mota Nguigna- the celebrated Makossa star. A court in Douala announced on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 that the appeal will be heard on the 16^th of August by the Court of Appeal in the Littoral. Papillon was sentenced to 4 months in prison for fraud on May the 17^th. The star has reportedly presented some guarantees and is seeking his freedom.

Three years ago, the Cameroonian musician was accused of extorting money from Abakar Zakaria Terio, following an altercation between the Chadian resident and a Malian over a 23 million CFA francs deal that involved a job at the United Nations. Papillon arbitrated between the two men while posing as a police commissioner. He subsequently received 500,000 CFA francs and did promise the complainant to plead on his behalf to the State Prosecutor. Having realized it was a scam from the artist, Abakar Zakaria Terio filed a complaint to the Judicial Police, and the star was arrested.

Cameroon ranks 17th in the classification of African countries using Face book ⁰

Cameroon has been ranked 17th in the classification of African countries using Face book. Cameroon Concord News gathered from the data released by Face book that over one million Cameroonians are registered on this social network. 620,000 are men (64%), and 340 000 of them (36%) are women.

Another study on the data presented by the social network Mark Zuckerberg noted that Cameroonian youth are those who are most interested in social media. 170 000 subscribers are between the ages of 13 and 19 years, 17%; 440 000 between the ages of 18 and 25 years (46%). The 35 years are only 156,000 people (16.25%).

The ranking is dominated by Egypt, South Africa, Morocco and Nigeria. However, the social network is attracting more and more companies.

TV Soap Operas: The Cameroonian woman’s new joy ⁰

Television following in Cameroon has grown over the years as the number of local channels increases and paid cable TV connection made more accessible to low income earners. Today, soap operas retain the attention of many Cameroonian women, with both local and foreign channels literally competing for attention with the number and quality of such films they offer. As a result, many women have literally become addicted to watching soaps.

According to Florence Bilaga, a Yaounde-based journalist, soaps are preferred by women because they deal with common gossip subjects such as love, family rivalries and stories of beautiful poor girls who become great because of who they marry. The films also handle the plight of children who are abandoned by one of their parents only for them to become prominent in life. Such a situation often obliges the negligent parent to return, asking for forgiveness on their knees.

“These stories enable women to keep their conversations alive as they try to predict what will happen next,” explained Bilaga. “Time for popular TV soaps in many Cameroonian homes these days is time of concentration. Even little children who were crying before tend to pay attention,” she added. Nyimekong Adeline, a cleaner with a Yaounde-based media company, attributes the popularity of soaps to their ability to handle daily societal concerns. “They teach lessons that enable people to live in harmony with their families and communities, while also offering tips on the things and type of company to avoid,” Nyimekong noted.

Among the several television soap operas currently running in Cameroonian homes are “Rumble” on Cameroon Radio Television, CRTV from 9 pm, “Bad Angel” from 7 pm and “La fille de ma mere,” from 8 pm – all from Mondays to Fridays. Others are “La reine blanche” on Canal 2 International on Saturdays at 7.30 pm, “La belle mère” on A+ during week days from 9 am to 10 am, and “Femmes autoritaires” on the same channel from Mondays to Fridays, beginning at 10.30 am. There is also “Anna Julia” on Nina TV from Mondays to Fridays as from 8.30 pm.

Eto’o weds Georgette in Stezzano, Italy ⁰

FORMER Chelsea and Everton striker Samuel Eto’o was married at a ceremony in Italy on Tuesday afternoon. The 35-year-old married his long time partner Georgette Tra Lou at a church in Stezzano, a small municipality 25 miles northeast of Milan.

The couple have been together for more than a decade and have five children together. Eto’o proposed in July 2014 with a €500,000 diamond ring, according to reports at the time. Former Barcelona captain Carles Puyol was among the guests at the ceremony, as was former Inter Milan owner Massimo Moratti.

Hundreds of people spilled into the streets of the small town to watch wedding guests arrive. Dressed in a grey three-piece suit with a houndstooth waistcoat and black shoes, Eto’o drove himself to the church – the Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista. He arrived, rather surprisingly for someone who used to drive a £1million Bugatti Veyron to Chelsea training, in a vintage Fiat 500L.

Looking gorgeous in a long flowing white dress, his bride to be made a rather more elegant arrival in a Mercedes Excalibur.

Prime Minister Philemon Yang to inaugurate first movie theater in Yaounde today ⁰

Prime Minister Philemon Yang will today Tuesday, June 14, in the Yaounde University 1 campus inaugurate the first movie theater named “Channel Olympia”. The project was sponsored by the Vivendi group.

“Channel Olympia” operates a multipurpose auditorium and film screenings halls with a capacity of 300 seats for shows or projections including 3,000 seats for shows and outdoor concerts. Vincent Bolloré, is in the Cameroonian capital to participate in this ceremony.
